Independence is the premiere public golf destination in Richmond, Virginia. It has undergone extensive renovations to the 18-hole Championship Golf Course which has earned recognition in Golf Digest's "Top 10 Remodels of 2016."
The Foundry Golf Club
The Foundry Golf Club rests on one of the most naturally stunning properties in Virginia. The rolling terrain, native vegetation, and scattered rock outcroppings, combine with the meandering banks of Fine Creek.

Powhatan State Park
Powhatan State Park in the northwest corner of Powhatan County on the historic James River. The park has three car-top boat slides accessing the river as well as diverse wildlife habitat, from open fields to upland hardwood forests. Other amenities include a full-service campground, a canoe-in campground, a group campground, multi-use trails, wildlife observation areas, picnic shelters and a playground.
Fighting Creek Park
Fighting Creek Park offers trails, a picnic area, large pavilion and a playground.

Powhatan Wildlife Management Area
This 4,400+ acre area provides opportunities for hunting, fishing and camping. Deer and turkey can be found in abundance as well at rabbits, quail and squirrels. The northern area includes two lakes with multiple available species of fish. Boat launching facilities are available.
