Powhatan County Introduces Tourism Ambassador Program

Powhatan County Economic Development is seeking qualified social media influencers and local community members to serve as volunteer tourism ambassadors to help bolster our digital marketing efforts and help draw attention to Powhatan as a great place to eat, sip, play, and visit. This program is the first of its kind for the county and has the following goals:

  • Additional digital content - Use local influencers and their personal experiences to help bring awareness to the tourism attractions and small businesses that are located in Powhatan County.
  • Increase reach - Expand the @visitpowhatanva audience to include people outside of our existing followers and families located outside of our region.
  • Garner support - Provide supplemental content to the Economic Development and Tourism team that we are able to incorporate into our social media strategy and content calendar. This is crucial, as we are a department of two staff members.

Participating is simple! Post as often as you’d like to your social media account(s) about local businesses and tourist attractions in Powhatan County - make sure @visitpowhatanva is invited to become a collaborator and is tagged in your post(s), attend and help our team cover select events happening in the county, and maintain a professional image and understand that you are representing the county and its values.

While these are exclusively volunteer positions, we are developing an incentive system to encourage our ambassadors to post on a regular basis. This system may include gift cards to local businesses, etc. after reaching a variety of different posting milestones.
